Stadium Precinct

Etihad Stadium (formerly Telstra Dome)

Stadium Precinct is home to the Docklands Stadium, which opened in March 2000. Known previously as Telstra Dome, it was renamed Etihad Stadium in 2009. The stadium, with its retractable roof, seating for over 50,000 and excellent dining and bar facilities, has already established itself as a premier sport and entertainment venue. Etihad Stadium is one of the major venues for AFL matches from March to September, and it also hosts major concerts, international and national sporting matches. It plays host to Melbourne Victory in the A-League Competition and the 2009 A-League Grand Final.

The precinct also comprises the land surrounding the stadium and VicUrban's vision is to transform the area into a thriving, urban stadium environment with activity and things to do all year round.

Seven Broadcast Centre

The Seven Broadcast Centre is based to the north-west corner of Telstra Dome, with two digital studios with public viewing. Network Seven’s news and current affairs shows all over Australia are processed through the centre, which is leading the way in Australia in the distribution and archiving of all content from digital servers.

Bendigo Bank building and Victoria Point

The Stadium Precinct is also home to the Bendigo Bank building and Victoria Point, a mixed-use development featuring a residential tower, serviced apartments, commercial space, retail shops and restaurants.

695 – 699 La Trobe Street

This prime site on the corner of Harbour Esplanade and LaTrobe Street was recently acquired by Salta Properties, with the intention of developing a high quality mixed use building. The site comes with an existing permit for a commercial tower as it was formerly earmarked for a development known as the 3Sixty Degrees project, however the ultimate design and mix of uses is yet to be finalised.

Lacrosse Docklands

The north eastern corner of the Stadium precinct will soon be home to Lacrosse Docklands, a mixed use project with a primarily residential focus.  The developer – a joint venture between PanUrban and the Halim Group – plans to build a two-tower residential building with retail facilites opening onto the stadium concourse, as well as basement car parking.  The development will feature two intersecting retail laneways providing improved pedestrian access to the stadium, whilst also improving retail amenity for the area.  Serviced Apartment operator Quest will occupy one of the towers whilst the second tower consists of private residential apartments.

Bourke Junction

Plans for this site to the south east of the stadium involve a mixed use development featuring commercial, retail and hotel uses, with improved stadium access, car parking and retail amenity for visitors and the local community.

The development rights to this site bound by the Stadium, Wurundjeri Way and Bourke street were secured by a consortium featuring ISPT and Cbus Property. They plan to deliver the project in stages.
